Paleo NewsNet System

The Paleo NewsNet System is a CGI script written in Perl and provides a UseNet-like news group. You can post, and post follow-ups to existing posts. A person posting can also specify to have all answers to the post e-mailed to him or her. It allows people to follow a thread without jumping back to the main page. The Main Page only shows the most recent 30 days-worth of messages. It also will convert any URL starting with "http://" to a hot link. The Program is designed to be easy to install and is for small to medium sites.

EnB NNTP

EnB NNTP is a very lightweight and simple Perl TK news client. Currently, the client will download article headers, and messages. You can read the message. Groups are added by hand. It is planned for the next release to allow for fairly easy addition of groups. Double click from list. Also planned for the next release are Next/Back buttons to navigate through the articles. There are several files in the zip package, the enbnntp.pl. nntpreadme, and a default newsgroups.txt (which houses the static newsgroups.) Four files will be built after using the program for a bit, newscache.dat, bodycache.dat, headers.dat and newsconf.ini. the Dat files write/rewrite article information, and the ini file houses user/passwd/news server info. The password is currently held in clear text. So, you may not want to put a password in, until prompted for it by the application.
